Mother Teresa spent her life working among “the poorest of the poor” because she SAW in them “Jesus in his most distressing disguise.”
Perhaps you won’t have the opportunity to serve JESUS by helping the “poorest of the poor” as she did, but JESUS will turn up…
In the form of that socially awkward person who stands by himself on Sunday mornings. The visitor who would like a cup of tea but is too embarrassed to ask. The latecomer who can’t find a seat. The lonely who live in homes but are “homeless”. The mother who’s had a long week and is irritable because she is overwhelmed by her circumstances…but you’ll say “Surely JESUS isn’t socially awkward, or shy, or likely to be late for church, or irritable…?”
